SEO CheckWhere does your website stand –on Google and in AI search?
My free SEO check is the SEO Compass: enter your website address, and within a few minutes you see where your biggest levers are on Google and in AI search – rated across six areas, with what to do next.
How does the free SEO check work?
The SEO Compass is my free SEO check for Google and AI search. You enter your website address, and the Compass rates your website across six areas – from strategy to technical SEO. Within a few minutes you see where your biggest levers are.
It’s simple:
- Enter your website: type your website address into the field and click “Check”.
- Let the Compass check: the SEO Compass rates your website across six areas and draws on available Google data.
- See your result: you see how your website scores across the six areas, how well it is set up for AI search and where your biggest opportunities are.
What does the SEO Compass check?
The SEO Compass rates your website in six areas. Together they show how well you are found on Google and whether AI systems can cite you as a source.
| Area | What it covers |
|---|---|
| SEO strategy | Do you know which search terms you want to be found for, and do they match your customers? |
| Page optimisation | Do your key pages have clear titles, headings and copy for their search term? |
| Technical SEO | Can Google read your website quickly and completely, including on mobile? |
| Content expansion | Do you answer your customers’ questions with dedicated pages and guides? |
| Authority and trust | Do other websites, reviews and mentions vouch for you? |
| Performance and growth | Do you measure what SEO delivers and keep improving your site? |
On top of that comes visibility in AI search: the Compass shows how well your website is set up for AI chats such as ChatGPT and AI summaries such as Google AI Overviews. This kind of optimisation is called GEO, short for generative engine optimisation.
Keep in mind: the SEO Compass is a first, automated assessment, not a full technical diagnosis. It shows you the direction – if you like, we work out the exact route together.
What is an SEO check, and what is an SEO checker?
An SEO check is a review of how well a website is optimised for search engines: technical setup, content, structure and links. An SEO checker is a tool that automates part of that review.
There are three ways to check a website:
| Type | Strength | Limitation |
|---|---|---|
| Automated SEO checker | finds technical errors fast, such as missing titles or broken links | doesn’t know your goals or customers and often produces long lists without priorities |
| SEO Compass | checks your website automatically and shows which area holds your biggest lever | doesn’t replace an in-depth technical audit |
| Personal SEO check | an expert reviews technical SEO, content and competitors and sets priorities | takes a little more time |
The best approach is usually a combination: the SEO Compass shows you where to look, and a personal review – through my personal SEO check or my SEO consulting – tells you exactly what to do.
What does a full SEO check include?
When I review a website personally, I look at four areas. You can check many of these points yourself with this list.
First assessment: how much potential is there?
- Which search terms are you found for today, and in which positions?
- How many clicks do you get from Google, and for which terms are you just below the top results?
- What are the sites ranking above you doing better?
You’ll find the answers for free in Google Search Console, the tool Google uses to show how your website performs in search.
Structural analysis
- Are your most important pages reachable within a few clicks of the homepage?
- Do your pages link to each other sensibly, with link text that says where it leads?
- Are there redirect chains or links to pages that no longer exist?
Technical analysis
- Does every page have its own title and meta description that match the content?
- Is there exactly one main heading (H1), with a logical structure below it?
- Does the page load fast? Google’s PageSpeed Insights tells you.
- Does anything break Google’s guidelines, such as hidden text or bought links?
Content analysis
- Does each page answer the question that brought someone to it from Google?
- Is there duplicate content – several pages competing with each other?
- Is the copy easy to read, up to date and free of typos?
- Is the key answer right at the top, so AI systems can quote it too?
How do you get a personal SEO check from me?
Alongside the SEO Compass I offer a personal SEO check: I look at your website myself – across the four areas above – and tell you where I see the biggest opportunities. The check is free and without obligation.
How the two options differ:
| Question | SEO Compass | Personal SEO check |
|---|---|---|
| Who checks? | automated, based on your website address and available Google data | me, using my AI tool for SEO and GEO and experience from more than 300 client projects |
| When do you get the result? | within a few minutes | after my review, in our intro call |
| What do you get? | your biggest lever across six areas | a personal assessment with concrete next steps |
| A good fit if … | you want to see quickly where you stand | you want to know what an expert would change on your website |
For the personal check I only need three things: your website, the platform it runs on, and the search terms you want to be found for. Once you’ve sent the form, you can pick a slot for the intro call straight away.
Want to talk to me directly without the check? Then book a call right away.
What should you do after the SEO check?
A check only helps if something happens next. Here is how to proceed:
- Pick your biggest lever: start with the area where the SEO Compass shows the largest gap. Trying to fix everything at once rarely works.
- Grab the quick wins: missing page titles, heavy images or unclear headings can often be fixed in an afternoon.
- Get a plan: if you’re not sure what comes first, get in touch. My SEO consulting gives you a clear roadmap.
- Learn to do it yourself: if you want to take SEO into your own hands, I can guide you through SEO coaching or my SEOrocket programme.
- Hand it over: if you don’t have the time, my team implements for you through my SEO services.
For every way we can work together, see my SEO solutions.
Which websites is the SEO check suitable for?
Any website your customers should be able to find – from a local service business to a B2B company or an online shop. The platform doesn’t matter: WordPress, Shopify, Shopware, TYPO3, Joomla, Contao, Drupal, Magento, Wix, Squarespace or a custom build.
Some platforms have typical weak spots I see again and again:
- WordPress: too many plugins and heavy themes slow the site down. More on my WordPress expert page.
- Online shops: filter and sort pages create duplicate content, and category pages have too little copy. More on my e-commerce SEO page.
- Website builders such as Wix: not everything can be adjusted technically, which makes strong content and a clear structure all the more important – my review of the Strato website builder shows what that looks like in practice.
